On the front lawn of the
United Church of Colchester, this rather stubby obelisk-shaped concrete structure with a Masons emblem dated 1931 on it. No indication at all why it's there.
I searched what Mason sites I could find, looking for monuments and memorials, to no avail.
I finally went to the church itself, and learned that, at one time, the Masons had contributed the base for a flagpole. Years later, the rusted flagpole was taken down, but rather than go to the effort of removing the base, Masons finished it off and left it as you see today; it is otherwise meaningless.
