The silo was once part of the James Leon St Louis & Family Farm, established in 1864. The farm achieved - Century Farm - status in 1965 while still being in the St Louis family’s ownership. As the area grew and farms were succumbing to urban sprawl, the property was sold, the farm and barns were demolished in 1988 to make room for a strip mall. The Mady Development Corporation preserved the silo in its original location, and dedicated it to the St. Louis Family and the early settlers of this land with this plaque:
