Bylo založeno v Plzni v roce 1930 Josefem Skupou. Zacátkem roku 1944 bylo nacistickými úrady uzavreno až do konce 2. svetové války. Na podzim 1945 divadlo presídlilo do Prahy, kde pusobí až dosud."
