"Family" is an abstract sculpture created by Japanese-American sculptor Isamu Noguchi in 1956-1957 and acquired by the CIGNA corporation for their new suburban campus in Bloomfield, CT.
Three groupings of polished and rough cut red and gray granite stones are arranged into a circle. The individual groupings differ in size to representing a father, mother and child. Father contains three granite blocks arranged into a T form and is 16' by 7' by 3'. Mother contains four granite blocks and in the form of a Y and is 12.3' by 5' by 2'. Child has two granite blocks forming a small Y and is 5.75' by 4.5' by 1.5'.
In 2000 CIGNA sold most of the land on the corporate campus to created a planned community which included the Gillette Ridge Golf Club.
