EN: Hämisgarten school is located on a hillside south of the village center. The house was built in 1906 according to plans by E. Sandreuter that were awarded with the first prize in an architectural competition.
Stylistically, it belongs to the First "Heimat Style", that was very popular for country houses and public buildings in the area.
The building looks very bulky, but is very bright in the interior. The steep half-hipped roof, which continues seamlessly to a relatively large turret and the exposed natural stone elements on the ground floor and in the corners give the house a castle-like character.
The house is still a primary school today.
DE: Das Hämisgarten-Schulhaus befindet sich an einem Abhang südlich der Ortskerns. Das Haus wurde 1906 nach Plänen von E. Sandreuter erbaut, die in einem Architekturwettbewerb mit dem ersten Preis ausgezeichnet wurden.
Stilistisch gehört das Haus zum "Ersten Heimatstil", der damals in der Gegend besonders für Landhäuser und öffentliche Bauten sehr beliebt war.
Das Gebäude wirkt sehr massig, ist im innern aber trotzdem hell. Das steile Krüppelwalmdach, das übergangslos in einen relativ grossen Dachreiter übergeht und die unverputzten Natursteinelemente im Erdgeschoss und in den Ecken geben dem Haus einen burg-ähnlichen Charakter.
Das Haus ist auch heute noch eine Primarschule.
