Pennsylvania Memorial This elegant Memorial honors the Pennsylvania troops that fought with the 9th Corps.
The Pennsylvania State Memorial is located at Grant Circle, milepost 4.6. It was erected at a cost of $12,500 and dedicated on March 24, 1906. It consists of a granite shaft placed at the back of an eliptical platform approached by a flight of three steps. Five bronze medallions on the main shaft portray each of the Pennsylvania unit commanders.
Text on the front plaque of the monument:
"Here brothers fought for their principles. Here heroes died for their country and a united people will forever cherish the precious legacy of their noble manhood.

Short Physical Description
Monument consists of 12' x 5'2" x 17' decorated shaft at center of 27' x 3'8" elliptical bench reached by 3 steps. Shaft contains bronze portrait medallions of 5 PA unit commanders & an inscription. Material is North Jay granite.
Bronze tablet on the back of the monument was stolen ca. 25-40 years ago.
