This is only about the fifth or sixth of these boxes, placed by the Canadian Diabetes Association, that we've actually noticed, though there are hundreds, possibly thousands, across Canada.

These bright red boxes, placed by the Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA), are called Clothesline Drop Boxes. One can now find them in most cities and towns in every Canadian province and territory. The CDA now has an online box finder, which allows anyone wishing to donate to easily find the drop box, station, office or Value Village nearest to their location.

This box is located at the northwest corner of the Elks Lodge (Old Drill Hall) on the corner of Coldwater Avenue and Cleasby Street, southwest of downtown Merritt, BC.

The following are the items that the CDA will accept, with exceptions noted below, via "The Clothesline", whether via the drop boxes or at other drop off locations:

• Gently used clothing
• All cloth-based items
• Bedding
• Sleeping bags
• Belts and ties
• Yarn
• Blankets
• Drapes
• Pillows
• Footwear
• Small household items: Kitchenware, pots & pans, tools, blenders, etc. Please note that small household items are not accepted at our Clothesline drop boxes.
• Electronics: Small electronics – cell phones, laptops, tablets, iPods, digital cameras, gaming consoles, PDAs. Please note that electronics are not accepted at our Clothesline drop boxes.
