The bronze plaque is mounted in the main rotunda of
James L. Webster Elementary School, named in honour of James Webster, beneath the plaque commemorating the opening of the school. The school was opened in 1949, in what would have been the final year of Webster's first term as MLA for West Kootenay in the Provincial Legislature as a member of a Liberal-Conservative coalition government. Elected in the 21st General Election in 1945, Webster died in 1948 while in office.
