Mark Z. Danielewski's novel "House of Leaves" is a very strange book..... it is a horror story put in the context of a group of people making a documentary about the strange goings on at their home. In Chapter 15, the wife, Karen Green begins to interview some people as she edits the film.
At the Statue of Liberty, she interviews magician David Copperfield who thinks that the documentary "...looks like a trick, but its a trick that constantly convinces you it's not a trick. A levitation without wires." And then, behind the scene, the Statue of Liberty disappears.
