Text of historic marker on left side of building:

HISTORIC BUILDING circa 1907
119 FIRST ST.

The first building was destroyed
by fire in 1893. In 1907 the present
building was erected for a pool
hall. It was constructed to hold
a second story that was never
built on. The Pool Hall is
believed to be the oldest in the
State of the Missouri still in
operation. Signs were discovered
under old wallpaper stating
"Kelly Pool 5 cents per que".
Jeffery Johnson is the current owner.

DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION 1992

The building is in good repair and is occupied by a bar and pool hall.
Date of Construction: 1907

This brick one-part commercial block has a rectangular footprint. The front elevation is three bays wide. Storefront fenestration defines the bays and includes a recessed entrance flanked by two aluminum-framed plate glass windows that rest on brick bulkheads. Corrugated metal covers the storefront transom window. Additional character-defining features include the course of header brick that surmounts the front parapet wall, the historic full-light entrance door and transom window, and the oblique brick joinery on the bulkhead corners.

The non-historic materials covering the transom window opening do not significantly impact this building's architectural integrity and it clearly conveys its historic associations. It is a contributing element to the historic district.
