Long Description:

The largest Frank Lloyd Wright building at Florida Southern College, the Polk County Science building was constructed between 1953 and 1958 at a cost of $1,000,000. Known locally as "Polk Science", the building features the only built Wright-designed planetarium. It was also one of the first buildings to use aluminum as a structural element.

Visitors are welcome on the campus. Please park in marked visitor parking, or along Johnson Avenue, on the west side of campus. Walking tour brochures with maps are available here:

The Florida Southern College Architectural District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
