EN: The Central Post Office Chur is the largest neo-Renaissance building in the city. The architectural style, the so-called Federal Renaissance was heavily promoted in the early 20th century for representative buildings all over Switzerland.
The three-story building with the striking paintings on the facade of the upper floors was built in 1902-1904 by the architects Jean Béguin and Theodor Gohl. The ornaments and gable figures were created by James Vilbert.
DE: Die Hauptpost von Chur ist das grösste Neo-Renaissance-Gebäude der Stadt. Der Baustil, die sogenannte Bundesrenaissance wurde im frühen 20. Jahrhundert für represäntative Bauten in der ganzen Schweiz stark gefördert.
Das dreistöckige Gebäude mit den auffälligen Malereien an der Fassade der oberen Stockwerke wurde von 1902 bis 1904 durch die Architekten Jean Béguin und Theodor Gohl erbaut. Die Ornamente und Giebelfiguren stammen von James Vilbert.
