St. John is a 103 year old stone church in central Brunswick. Its copper clad spire with gilt cross is our benchmark. It originally appeared dark in colour as it was new, but now it has attained a bright green patina as the copper oxidized.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1933 (CMD)
THE TALL BLACK CHURCH SPIRE WITH A CROSS ON THE TOP AND NEAR THE
POST OFFICE IN THE CITY OF BRUNSWICK. THE CHURCH (CATHOLIC) IS
ON A STREET WHICH RUNS AT RIGHT ANGLES TO THE MAIN BUSINESS
STREET AND IS ABOUT 2-1/2 BLOCKS W OF THE MAIN STREET. THE
STATION IS THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE SPIRE.

THE CHURCH IS A BROWN AND GRAY SANDSTONE STRUCTURE WITH BLACK
SPIRE, KNOWN AS THE ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH, SITUATED ON
THE S SIDE OF PLEASANT STREET (NOW U.S. HIGHWAY 1), AND IN THE
FIRST BLOCK E OF WHERE A SPUR LINE CROSSES PLEASANT STREET.
