The 50 feet long Mural, mounted on a hording along the wall of the Prince of Wales Pub, in Market Street, at the heart of Llanberis High street.
The Mural painted by local school children, each child has his or her handprint & initials included in the mural.
The Llanberis mural features scenes from the immediate local area. From the left a dark & eerie free-climber,(I suspect painted by an adult), mountain climbers, merging into green hills, forest, & Lake with fish swimming, A small movable steam engine, (Lake Padarn narrow gauge railway)followed by the brightly painted houses of Llanberis, next at the center of the mural, the mighty Dinorwig slate quarry, superimposed with a miners face, Dinorwig now known as the Electric Mountain, (An awesome high-tech underground world, & Power Station), 3 cogs (signifying an industrial heritage) leading to Dolbadarn Castle, followed by the iconic Welsh image of a Red Dragon, breathing fire as it flies over the Valley, Snowdon Mountain foothills shown with the rack & pinion Snowdon Mountain Railway shown steaming its way to the summit. A very common sight of the mountain rescue helicopter is seen flying towards the peak of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa to give it its Welsh name) shown on the right rear of the mural, that then ends, with a slate tip, some crows, & several sponsors credits, including Rotary & www.Llanberis.org
