On the brink Diever is the Schultehuus, the former official residence of the Schultes of Diever. It was built in 1604 by Berend Cauldron Hackford. Afterwards it has been inhabited by six generations of the family cauldron, who exercised successively the Schultambt to Diever. The coat of arms, which is equipped with a beater, is contained in a stone over the front door.
The Schulte was a kind of representative, messenger of the central government.
The schulte huus is the only one still in more or less original condition schulte housing in the province of Drenthe. It is a fine example of a housing-cum-business men of a landowning farmer, who was also public servant.
Until 1989 held the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (cleared) service here. Still, it is been used as a synagogue. The building has fulfilled the function of multi-cultural center.
