Feasting at the King's Inn Seafood Restaurant is one of those Texas Thangs that you must do if you are anywhere nearby. It has been in serving up heaping platters of fresh-caught local Gulf seafood since the 1930s. You have to go many miles down a lonely FM road in the Brush Country from the busy US77 to get here but the trip and the meal will be well worth it, we promise.
The Kings Inn is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11am-10pm, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

"King’s Inn
What started out in 1935 as a short-order cafe on the shore of Baffin Bay is now a coastal culinary landmark. The dining room is spacious, with the best tables in the house in the sun-lit area facing east, overlooking the placid water. Arrive knowing that there are no paper menus and servers will not split checks. But do expect the full family-style experience when you order the fried seafood plate: flaky fish, buttery scallops, succulent frogs’ legs, oysters, and huge shrimp served by the pound with crispy onion rings, hush puppies, and fries. Try the kitschy Bombay Salad (mashed avocado seasoned with lemon and curry over iceberg lettuce) and be sure to have the spicy tartar sauce (its recipe a well-kept family secret). (January/2014)"
