There is one lion on each end of the ramp leading to the main entrance to the building. The posted coordinates are for the lion on the right side of the ramp.
"The Parliament building is guarded by two stone lions that were carved by a prisoner in the Akershus Fortress. Initially sentenced to death, the criminal ended up being given a life sentence instead. The two lions received much praise and became a symbol of the Parliament. The unprecedented success of the prisoner’s work got him released in 1872. He moved to the United States and began a new life."

"The lions are carved from Nordmarkitt, Oslo's county stone. Nordmarkitt is a vulcanic rocktype found in abundance in the Oslo graben; it is an alkali feldspar syenite (or chemically a alkali syenite)."
