Heroes Plaza is located at the intersection of Rock Island Ave. and Woodson. Dedicated on July 4, 2000, the plaza sits curbside on the northwest corner. The brick plaza floor has monuments to several of the wars the United States has fought in, with the engraved names of Canadian County veterans who died in that war, as well as 8 to 10 stone benches in memory of various veterans and citizens. The plaza backdrop is a wall covered with donated bricks from various companies, organizations and citizens who helped fund the building of the plaza. On the north side of this wall is a mural showing a military honor guard and a funeral at Arlington National Cemetery.
Heroes Plaza is sponsored by the City of El Reno and the Chamber of Commerce, Canadian County, and several of the El Reno posts of veterans' organizations. The plaza was designed by an Air Force veteran, Charlie Beecham.
