"Or a Lion rampant Gules." (Flags of the World)

The flag of Laufenburg was the symbol of Habsburg, who founded the city in the 12th century. It has been first documented as town symbol in 1461. The current shape was introduced not after 1532.

The German city of Laufenburg across the river uses the same flag, the two cities were a single municipality under Austrian rule until 1801.

I found many of the flags all over the main roads in the old town center.
