EN: The Church of Naters dominates the old village center. It was first mentioned in 1018, but nothing else is known about this Church, not even the exact location.
The characteristic Romanesque bell tower dates from the 12th century. The exterior decoration and the Gothic steepletop were installed in 1514. The nave was built in 1659-64 by Balthasar and Peter Bodmer in early Baroque style. The porch was added in 1670. The rear part of the church collapsed during an earthquake in 1755.
The church was extensively renovated 1977-80.
DE: Die Kirche von Naters dominiert den alten Dorfkern. Sie wurde erstmals 1018 erwähnt, allerdings ist über diese Kirche sonst nichts bekannt, auch nicht ihre Lage.
Der charakteristische romanische Kirchturm stammt aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Die Aussendekoration und den gotischen Kirchturm wurden 1514 angebracht. Das Kirchenschiff wurde 1659-64 von Balthasar und Peter Bodmer im frühbarocken Stil erbaut. Die Vorhalle wurde 1670 angebaut. Der hintere Teil der Kirch stürzte 1755 bei einem Erdbeben ein.
Die Kirche wurde 1977-80 umfassend renoviert.
