Fruit of the Earth, by local artist Walter Frankoski stands about 6 feet in height. The young woman is offering a basket of fruit to passersby. Included is a scroll inscribed with “Fruit of the Earth. It seems some passerby placed two gourds as an offering of fall. At the base is a bronze plaque with the title of the sculpture and the artist’s name. This sculpture was part of the Okanagan Thompson International Sculpture Symposium in 2002.

In 2002, the Okanagan Thompson International Sculpture Symposium (OTISS) took place during May to August. Showcased were nine communities in the Okanagan-Thompson area. Included were 25 commissioned artists many from Canada and with other artists commissioned from around the world. Their works of art were permanently placed in participating towns and communities.

There were also eighty non-commissioned sculptors that participated with many of their sculptures being placed.

Jock Hildebrand, a good friend, was one of the primary organizers of the symposium. We became involved and visited locations where the sculptures were created on site and afterwards visited most of the sculptures after their placement.
