Facts About the German Friendship Globe

Do not drink the water

Made in Germany, the granite sphere is precision machined to balance to the tolerance of 0.02 mm and weighs 2.5 tons. Pressurized water (25lbs/sq. inch) lets the Globe float freely on a fine film of water without danger to fingers. The Globe was weighted at the South Pole and offset by 23.5° to the sun before the continents were engraved. Left untouched the Globe eventually rotates around the Earth's axis point North towards the Polar Star.
