This sits DIRECTLY below the Captain Cook Memorial Lighthouse, a unique and modern looking structure on the coastline of New South Wales and the border of Queensland. The lighthouse lays claim to the FIRST to experimentally use LASER as a light source.
The cast bronze disk shows the setting of Australia in the setting of the table, with what would be a satellite view, including New Zealand, part of Antarctica, Madagascar, and then some of the Southeast Asian countries.
It also has the 10º increments noted around the rim of it, and 'ticks' for the intermediary 5º segments.
Date of creation: 1970
