MIke Foster

Confederate sharpshooter enlisted 9 May 1861, in Monroe Guards, later Co. D. 27th Va. Infantry, Stonewall Brigade. "The Bloody 27th" fought in every major Civil War battle in east, from First Manassas to Appomattox. Foster was personally decorated as the bravest man in brigade. He died, may 1875, of war~related wounds at age 36. Comrades & friends erected granite shaft grave marker in 1907.
