Plaque describing the replica statue |
In 1868, Italian sculptor Luca Arrighini di Pietrasanta created an exact replica of Michelangelo's sculpture, using marble from a quarry close to the source of the material used by Michelangelo. A few years ago, this replica was purchased by Mission de Oro to add to the Hotel's ambient of an old Spanish Mission. It is on display in the hotel's courtyard.
