As you enter the main part of the building, you see a display of what a section of backwaters looks like. You see bass, catfish, turtles and other water creatures through the glass. Above the water are live Green-Wing Teal and Buffleheads, either swimming on the surface or resting on the shore.
There is so much to see that you'll easily spend two hours inside this new building. Don't forget to tour the steamboat "William M. Black". There is also the National Rivers Hall of Fame. If you get hungry, the Depot Cafe is right there for your pleasure.
