The clock is dated 1887 but the present clock is more recent than that and was provided by the Maidstone Rotary Club. The elephant, above the clock, is the logo of the former brewery.
The clock face has a white, translucent background that allows it to be back-lit. The hour and minute marks are pressed from a single sheet of metal with the marks being held together by three concentric rings that are coloured gold. The outer and centre rings hold the minute marks between them whilst the inner and centre rings hold the hour marks. The marks are coloured black and the hour marks are Roman numerals. The hands are a simple design with tails. They are painted black with a fine gold stripe down their centres.
