In Buckland, at the Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum, is this boxcar painted in dots, with a signature featuring a Kilroy figure, and the signature of the artist, Caleb Neelon.
The Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum is a small operation with a dedicated staff to preserve a specific history and tradition of the Shelburne Falls area. The boxcar sits between the track of the trolley museum and the main line tracks of the former Boston & Maine Railroad (now called PanAm Railway).
The boxcar is a rather beat up object with rust spots and cracked and streaked paint. The car is covered in spray-painted dots in various colors and sizes. At the upper left corner where the side is painted light blue, is the recognizable design of Kilroy, only a little more angular than the typical figure. To the left are the words, "Caleb Neelon was here" and "2013."
Caleb Neelon is an author and artist who lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is well known for his graffiti works as well as murals. This boxcar is featured as one of his works of art.
