In Weathersfield, along the Weathersfield Trail in Mt. Ascutney State Park, is Little Cascade Falls.
The falls are located on the south entrance to the park. To get there, from I-91, take the exit for VT Route 131 and head west to High Meadow Road - there should be a sign for the trail head on the main road. Turn onto this road and then turn right onto Cascade Falls Road. Follow signs to the end. There are two small parking lots there. DO NOT PARK ALONG THE ROAD - It's posted, and enforced, so, go early.
The trail is moderate in difficulty as you travel almost always up along wooded paths, sometimes over rock and occasionally crossing a stream.
Little Cascade Falls is a series of drops and flows. Unfortunately, at the time of visit, the area has had less than average rainfall, so the water flow was minimal. By the trail, the water was missing. Where I found water was where the trail crosses the brook for the last time at a narrow chasm. The chasm is a break in the rock about 15 ft wide and at least 20 ft high. Water was falling as a thin stream from near the top and dropping down the twenty feet to the bottom of the chasm, where it flowed to a pool, where the water disappeared. If the water were more normal, my guess is that there would be over 100 ft of cascading water, dropping for a total of perhaps 40 ft (rough estimate).
There are more falls about a mile up from here, but we didn't have time to investigate.
