This 7 foot high bronze statue stands on an 8 foot high gray granite base. He stands dressed in hat, britches, coat and vest. The inscription on the front of the base, which has been graffitied, reads "Christopher Columbus, erected and dedicated by the federation of Italian-American Societies and public-spirited citizens in the City of Buffalo." There are three ships carved on the other three sides of the base. The inscription on the left side reads "The Caravel Nina," the right reads "The Caravel Pinta," and the rear of the base reads "The Flagship Santa Maria."
