In Needham, along Great Plain Avenue, is Hazel's Bakery.
The bakery is located a couple blocks north of the Hershey MBTA Commuter Rail stop, on the east side of the road.
The building is a small, one story structure. The entrance is right into a small sales area with two sides showing baked goods, and another wall with various coffee thermoses. Bakery goods included cakes, many kinds of cookies - including ginger ninja turtle cookies. Also donuts and muffins, including a triple berry muffin. Also, various kinds of bagels and bagel sandwiches can be prepared. One thing they had at the time of visit was 'Pan Mass' cookies, where the proceeds went to the Pan Mass. Challenge - a bicycle tour that raises money for cancer.
One feature is the delivery vehicle parked out front. It is a converted ambulance, and has attached to it on the back, "Hazel's Bakery - for all your cake emergencies!"
According to the web site, the bakery was founded by Kenneth and Hazel Mullen. Their son and wife who worked in the bakery took it over in 1970. The bakery is now operated by Steve and Stacie Barton.
