Manton Dam was built in 1942 as one of Darwin's water supplies. It is now a recreation area for swimming, fishing and boating, with good facilities for picnics and bbqs. There is ample parking and an easily accessable boat ramp. Overnight camping is not permitted, however.
It has abundant fish, reptile, bird and plant life, with Barramundi being the most commonly sought after fish. Only lure fishing is permitted; fishing with bait is prohibited.
