Sperling is one of DeLand's main active-sports facilities for players who range from beginners to experienced tournament teams. Dedicated in 1987, it is named after DeLand's first Parks and Recreations Department director, Thomas W. Sperling.

The Sperling Sports Complex was dedicated April 11, 1987 in honor of DeLand's first Parks and Recreation Department Director, Thomas W. Sperling. The complex includes a full size baseball field with a Class A lighting system for night play and a computerized scoreboard. The complex also houses three lighted softball fields, three soccer/football fields, a batting cage, a baseball practice field, an all-purpose practice field, a press box, restrooms and concession stand.
