The 10m high three-sided stone and bronze ANZAC Memorial was designed by Western Australian sculptors Charles Smith and Joan Walsh-Smith. On the top of the memorial is a semi-circular window through which the rising sun shines and which is inscribed with the words, ‘Those only deserve freedom who are prepared to defend it’.
The bronze boy on the steps of the memorial offering a poppy is a symbol of the innocence of children and the desire for world peace.
