[FR] Cet arbre a été donné par le docteur Bretonneau en 1843.
Cet arbre est un fossile vivant originaire de Chine. Sa feuille possède 2 lobes qui deviennent jaune d’or à l’automne. Cet essence a été introduit en Occident en 1727 par les Pays-Bas, il est planté en France par les frères Duhamel en 1760 et le nom « arbre aux 40 écus» rappellerait le prix payé eux à un anglais. Habituellement dioïque, cet arbre est un sujet mâle mais M. Lemoine, jardinier, y greffa une
branche femelle en 1910 qui donne des ovules.

This tree is a living fossil native of China. His(her,its) sheet(leaf) possesses 2 lobes which become golden yellow in autumn.
