The plaque says, "The course of history changed with the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and the signing of the Constitution of the United States in 1787. Both events took place at Independence Hall, just a short distance to your right.
This 1980 sculpture commemorates the courage of those who affixed their names to these monumental documents."
