EN: The Bärenfelserhof is located on the Stapfelberg, a narrow alley on the western cathedral hill. The five-storey building was built in 1602 by Johann Lucas Iselin. He let demolish a predecessor building, which was first mentioned in 1494. After Iselin's death in 1626, the house was empty for some time and then changed the owner several times. In 1748 it came into the possession of Christoph von Bärenfels, who gave the house its name. In 1802, it was converted into a silk-ribbon factory and fainally came into the possession of the state in 1895. Starting from 1916 the house was used by the university for about 100 years, it housed mainly seminars of the faculty of humanities. In 2016, the building was renovated and converted into a residential house.

There used to be another house at the Petersgraben, which was also called Bärenfelserhof; but this was demolished in 1956.

DE: Der Bärenfelserhof steht am Stapfelberg, einer schmalen Gasse auf dem westlichen Münsterhügel. Das fünfstöckige Gebäude wurde 1602 von Johann Lucas Iselin erbaut. Dafür liess er einen Vorgängerbau einreissen, der 1494 erstmals erwähnt wurde. Nach Iselins Tod 1626 stand das Haus einige Zeit leer und wechselte dann mehrfach den Besitzer. 1748 kam es in den Besitz von Christoph von Bärenfels, der dem Haus den Namen gab. 1802 wurde es in eine Seidenbandfabrik umgebaut und kam 1895 in den Besitz des Staats. Ab 1916 wurde das Haus für etwa 100 Jahre von der Universität benutzt, es beherbergte vor allem Seminare der geistes wissenschaftlichen Fakultät. 2016 wurde das Gebäude renoviert und wieder zu einem Wohnhaus umgebaut.

Früher gab es am Petersgraben noch ein anderes Haus, das auch Bärenfelserhof hiess; dieses wurde aber 1956 abgerissen.
