[EN] The font is often placed on either side of the entrance doors and, on entering the church, the faithful dip the fingertips of the right hand in the holy water and then sign, that is, ie they sketched sign of the cross.
The font is wide and shallow. It is hard material, often in stone and the interior is marble or alabaster. Sometimes used a big exotic shell called precisely for this reason, holy water.
