Longton Spiritualist Church is one of the leading centres for Spiritualism today, with a traditional history going back over one hundred years. The old Longton Church was located in Lightwood Road and was opposite Longton library.
This Church was opened in 1995 after the old church was demolished to make way for the construction of the A50. (

Longton was the birthplace and home to Gordon Higginson, the longest serving President of the Spiritualists National Union, serving as President from 1970 to 1993.
George was born in Longton in 1918. His mother, Fanny, was an established medium at Longton Spiritualist Church and George went on to serve there until his death in 1993.
Longton Church is affiliated to the Spiritualists National Union and promotes Spiritualism as decreed by them. They hold blessing, naming, wedding, funeral and memorial services.
