EN: This was the house of Johann Jakob Iselin-Ryhiner, a wealthy local patrician and a major in the French army. Both of Hebel's parents worked here as servants.
When Hebel was one year old, his father died. Until the death of his mother 13 years later Hebel lived here in the Summer months and in the small and poor village Hausen im Wiesental in the Black Forest in the winter. Hebel said about this later: "there I learned early on what it meant to be poor and rich ... to have nothing and to have everything".
Hebel became very famous for his poems and short tales written in the Alemannic dialect. His most famous works are "Allemannische Gedichte" (1803) and "Schatzkästlein des rheinischen Hausfreundes" (1811).

Als Hebel ein Jahr alt war, starb sein Vater. Bis zum Tod seiner Mutter 13 Jahre später lebte Hebel hier in den Sommermonaten und im Winter in dem kleinen und armen Dorf Hausen im Wiesental im Schwarzwald. Hebel sagte dazu später: "Da habe ich frühe gelernt arm sein und reich sein […] nichts haben und alles haben"
Hebel wurde berühmt für seine Gedichte und Kurzgeschichten, die im alemannischen Dialekt geschrieben wurden. Seine bekanntesten Werke sind "Allemannische Gedichte" (1803) und "Schatzkästlein des rheinischen Hausfreundes" (1811).
