EN: The Schönkindhof is a three-story Gothic town house with a gate entrance in the high ground floor.

The name dates from the 14th century, the building belonged to the preacher's monastery then. After 1500 it was used by the book printer Andreas Crantander. In the town description of Felix Plattner from the year 1610, it is called Battierhof and in the address book of 1862 Friedhof.

I could not find any more information from the past, but the house was in the news several times in recent times. The financier Dieter Behring had the house converted and renovated for over 30 million Swiss francs. It served him as residence and the headquarters of his business empire. He also renewed the old, long-forgotten name of Schönkindhof and renamed his financial company to Schönkind Holding. since the collapse of the company network in 2004 with a presumed loss sum of more than 800 million Swiss francs and the condemnation of Behring for fraud, the house has been standing empty. On behalf of the public prosecutor's office, it is to be sold, but has not found a buyer for years, as the exorbitantly luxurious equipment (for example a 25-meter underground swimming pool) also leads to completely inappropriate maintenance costs.

Der Name stammt offenbar aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, das Gebäude gehörte damals dem Predigerkloster. Nach 1500 wurde es von dem Buchdrucker Andreas Crantander benutzt. In der Stadtbeschreibung von Felix Plattner aus dem Jahr 1610 wird es Battierhof genannt und im Adressbuch von 1862 Friedhof.

Weitere Informationen aus der Vergangenheit konnte ich nicht finden, allerdings war das Haus in der jüngeren Vergangenheit mehrfach in den Schlagzeilen. Der Financier Dieter Behring liess das Haus für über 30 Millionen Franken umbauen und renovieren. Es diente ihm als Wohnsitz und Hauptquartier seines Firmenimperiums. Er erneuerte auch den alten, längst vergessenen Namen Schönkindhof und benannte seine Finanzfirma in Schönkind Holding um. Seit dem Zusammenbruch des Firmengeflechts im Jahr 2004 mit einer vermuteten Schadenssumme von über 800 Millionen Franken und der Verurteilung Behrings wegen Betrugs steht das Haus leer. Im Auftrag der Staatsanwaltschaft soll es verkauft werden, findet aber seit Jahren keinen Käufer, da die exorbitant luxuriöse Ausstattung (z.B. ein unterirdisches 25-Meter-Schwimmbecken) auch zu völlig unangemessenen Unterhaltskosten führt.
