The graves are marked by simple white headstones with the names of the deceased, the date of death and a Star of David inside of which there is an inscription in Hebrew.
The earlier grave is for Hermann Jeschke and the latter for Heinrich Abraham. The respective inscriptions are as follows:
HERMANN
JESCHKE
31.3.1916
and
HEINRICH
ABRAHAM
21.7.1917
The explanation for the presence of these graves is that in 1916-17 Herr Jeschke and Herr Abraham would have been internees at Knockaloe.
Knockaloe was an internment camp for civilian enemy aliens. Herr Jeschke and Herr Abraham would have been amongst the apporimately 24,000 civilian enemy aliens held at Knockaloe during the hostilities of the WWI.
