This sign is located in the Springwater Conservation Area, just south of Aylmer, Ontario. The Chestnut Blight originated in the late 1800's and devastated local Chestnut Tree populations. The log that is on display here was from a tree cut down in Springwater and placed in the pond to be taken to a mill. Several logs sank including this one, and when the pond was drained, they were used to make desks and other items. This one was kept as an educational display.
