The church was part of a proestrated monastery of which documents of 907,1095 and 1124 prove the existence.
The church which belonged to the former diocese of Bourges, was given to the abbey of Souvigny at the beginning of the 12th century. The religious community, which depended on the abbey of Souvigny, has long benefited from the liberality of the Dukes of Bourbon. It ceased to exist in the mid-16th century for reasons unknown to this day.
