Back in the 1980s, before the forced amalgamation with the City of Ottawa, the City of Kanata set apart this green space under the hydro-electricity corridor that runs parallel to busy March Road. A berm protects the park from the traffic. The hydro corridor dates back to the 1930s.
Bethune Park includes two playgrounds quite distant from each other. The two playgrounds have existed since the 1980s but they have been updated.
On Teron Road, one can see original Beaverbrook community signage for the park. Technically, the stream from Teron Road to the play area is part of Bethune Park. However, park use is prevented by private property signage from the nearby condominium corporation.
The size of the park including the stream is
4.35 hectares or 10.75 acres.
