[FR] Les Grands-Mères-Automobiles ont vu le jour en 1957 à Saint-Georges ou plutôt dans la commune libre de La Chaise, petit hameau sur le territoire communal. Jean-Marie Pellerin, fondateur et président de l'association imagine le concept qui consiste à parodier les 24 Heures du Mans avec de vieilles voiture nées entre 1900 et 1939. Les premiers « bolides » ont porté par dérision des noms fantaisistes.
[EN] Les Grands-Mères-Automobiles was founded in 1957 in Saint-Georges or rather in the free commune of La Chaise, a small hamlet on the municipal territory. Jean-Marie Pellerin, founder and president of the association, imagines the concept of parodying the 24 Hours of Le Mans with old cars born between 1900 and 1939. The first "cars" mocked fanciful names.
