This old Renaissance Revival jail house was erected in 1884. It sits right next to the old courthouse. Kendall county has built a much bigger facility at another location and this one sits vacant.

A two story limestone structure. It was the county jail from 1884 to 1987, and as recently as four years ago, it housed workers not involved in law enforcement on its first floor. These days, it’s being used only to store records.
