The stone built church consists of a chancel, nave, north chapel, north and south aisles, south porch and west tower. The west tower dates from c 1150, with the upper part being of the 14th century and the spire being rebuilt in 1856. The aisles were added in the 14th century, with the south aisle being rebuilt in the 15th century. A curious feature is that there are six arcades to the north aisle, with only five arcades in the south aisle. The chancel was rebuilt in the 15th century. The roofs are Victorian replacements, as are the stained glass windows.
Over the chancel arch is a portion of a painting of the Nativity by Sir Joshua Reynolds. The painting is believed to be a survivor of a fire at Belvoir Castle in 1816.
Outside the church is a round shaft dating to the 8th century, a remnant of an earlier Saxon church. The carving is in four tiers, the decoration now largely eroded.
