FR Lorsqu’on regarde la sculpture de Saint-Auban, on ne demande pas « qu’est ce que ça représente », on voit "ce qui est présenté". C’est évident : "quatre arcs de 86.5º chacun, assemblé d’une certaine manière. L’interprétation est impossible. Inutile d’y chercher une quelconque symbolique. Ce concept de l’autoréférentialité est capital dans l’histoire de l’art du XXe siècle. Il permet enfin à un tableau ou à une « sculpture » d’avoir une identité qui lui est propre. Enfin l’art n’est plus une copie appauvrie d’une autre chose idéalisée qui méritait d’être copiée, l’artiste ne copie plus. Il crée du nouveau".
