Kybele, the great goddess of Mount Ida, is a goddess, who, together with her lover Attis, was originally worshiped in Phrygia (Little Asia) and later in Greece, Thrace and Rome.
According to the myth, Zeus once slept on the mountain of Agdos in Phrygia, dropping his seed to the ground. At this point the agitating Agdistis grew from the rock. He had a terrifying nature and was therefore castrated by the other gods. The Agdistis thus liberated from his manliness became the Great Mother of Kybele, but Attis was born from the severed genitals. Since Kybele and Attis were originally a person, they moved to each other.
